What’s the Difference about BMW ICOM A,BMW ICOM A2,BMW ICOM A3

BMW ICOM A3 Professional Diagnostic Tool Hardware V1.37,it is the newest bmw icom diagnostic tool. ICOM hardware has three parts: ICOM A, ICOM B and ICOM C. ICOM A+B+C hardware plus software HDD can diagnose and program BMW Cars, BMW Motorcycle, Rolls-Royce and Mini Cooper.

1.Outlook
ICOM and ICOM A has the same outlook.

2.Firmware/Hardware
ICOM A and ICOM A2 share the same firmware. Three firmware version optional: V1.1.8, V1.33 and V1.36. ICOM A3 has the difference firmware version: V1.37

3) Software:
ICOM and ICOM A software named ISIS (ISTA-P) and ISID (ISTA-D), the latest version is: 2013.01.
ICOM A2 and ICOM A3 software named ISTA-D ISTA-P (or Rheingold version).
ICOM A2 current version: 2015.08
ICOM A3 newest version is 2015.03.
There will be newer software version released continually in the future.

4) Function:
ICOM A and ICOM A2 share the same function. But due to the old ICOM A module have problem in the cooling and protection design, ICOM A2 adopts the whole aluminum shell body, using aerial explosion-proof connector; and it use the joint connection line which similar to the Mercedes-Benz SDCONNECT COMPACT 4.

The newly released ICOM A3 has a higher version firmware which is able to receive a significantly more powerful processor and more storage capacity. A3 comes with robust aluminum box will help to avoid damage in harsh environments when using.

5) Operating system

ICOM only support Win XP O/S.
ICOM A1: Win XP and Win 7 64 bit O/S
ICOM A2: Win XP and Win 7 O/S

ICOM A3: Professional Win7 64 bit (NO Win XP)

How to install BMW ICOM V2015.1 Rheingold ISTA-D 3.46.30 ISTA-P 3.54.1.001?
1. First to insert D-Link;
2. Boot up PC / Laptop;
3. Double click “ISPI-NEXT Admin Tools” shortcuts, wait for about 20 seconds to activate the software;
4. Select Wifi for ICOM (Only click once);
5. At this time, use mobile phone to search Wifi, if D-Link activates, it will show you the Wifi name “ISAP”;
6. Connect ICOM with vehicle;
7. When ICOM System Light cease to flash and WLAN Light keep on after flash for a few seconds, which means a full connection between ICOM and PC / Laptop.
